Jeremie Frimpong is going very close to joining Liverpool when the British team has made the first negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen and completed the preliminary terms of the contract. The Mirror quoted a source from the German media, The Kop contacted the Bundesliga team to discuss the provision of the 24 -year -old’s contract release, ranging from 29.5 to 33.7 million pounds.
Frimpong is considered a potential alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold and is the first goal in the plan to upgrade the right wing corridor of the new coach Arne Slot. Liverpool is ready to give the Dutch defender a 5 -year contract if reaching an agreement with Leverkusen.
The Dutch star will probably reunite teammates Virgil Van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo at Anfield. Frimpong, who had 190 appearances for Leverkusen, is said to have “nodded” and was ready to move to Liverpool for next season. Under coach Xabi Alonso, he mainly played in the role of Wing-back, but could also play as a pure full-back.
